Children
under 12 are admitted to the event free when accompanied by an adult.
So this year we are including a kids play area called the "Land
of the Leprechauns". For one $10 price kids can play in the "Land
of the Leprechauns" all day and have unlimited access to all the
rides. Kids 5 or under get in for only $5. Rides include the Super Slide,
the Adrenalin rush, Giant Moon Bounce, the Crazy Caterpiller and there
will be a free game booth with prizes. There will also be face painting,
balloon art and puppet shows. The entrance price for the "Land
of the Leprechauns" enables the kids to unlimited rides between
1pm and 5pm.
There
will also be cultural activities for adults such as the Irish music "seisiun"
where people are encouraged to bring their instruments and participate.
There will also be adult set dancing and performances of Irish Dancing
throughout the weekend. We have 3 Pipe Bands participating and Sunday's
events will begin with a Catholic Mass at 11am. Finally, over the 2 days
we will have free lessons available in the Bordhan (Irish Drum), Tin Whistle
and Irish History lessons.

On
Saturday we wil feature the dance troop Keltic Dreams, a group of
36 students from PS 59 in the Bronx. They are primarily black
and hispanic students under the direction of a transfer teacher from Dublin.
In the past three years they have risen to become national champions and
traveled to Dublin to perform for the Irish prime minister!
We will also have the current deputy chancellor or Ireland for New York
preside over the sashing ceremony on Saturday and present the $2000
scholarship award to our hunger essay contest winner.
We
will also have several pubs located throughout the fairgrounds to help
quench your thirst should the need arise.
