Staten
Island Irish Gravesite:
During the terrible days of the famine many Irish died and are buried
right here in Staten Island. This website is most heart wrenching when
you read the names and ages of the little Irish children who survived
the journey only to die of disease in America. These terrible circumstances
were created as a direct result of British economic greed and military
oppression.
Irish
American Historical Society.
The Society, founded in 1897 to inform the world of the achievements
of the Irish in America, is today a national center of scholarship and
culture.
Irish

The Irish community is one of New York's major and important ethnic
groups, and has been a significant proportion of the city's population
since the waves of immigration in the late 1800s.
Sinn
Fein

the British military presence in Ireland.
